Our personalised treatment plans are meticulously overseen by specialist consultant psychiatrists, ensuring that you receive ongoing support and care tailored to your unique needs.
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurological condition that affects millions of people worldwide, with approximately 5% of the UK population believed to be affected - many of whom remain undiagnosed. ADHD impacts an individual's ability to focus, control impulses, and sustain attention. While it often presents in childhood, many adults may go years without receiving a diagnoses.
Common symptoms of ADHD include:
ADHD frequently runs in families and is often associated with other conditions. While it can be diagnosed at any age, early recognition and intervention can significantly enhance one's quality of life.
Our dedicated team at Well Life Clinic consists of GPs who have undergone specialised training in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of ADHD for both adults and children. We adopt a comprehensive approach to ensure you receive an accurate diagnosis and a tailored management plan, guided at every step by our esteemed ADHD Consultant Psychiatrists.
Why Choose us?
We understand that the assessment process can be daunting for children. Our team is committed to creating a supportive environment to help your child feel at ease. We will work with you to accommodate any specific requests that ensure your child's comfort, provided it is safe and does not compromise the assessment's quality.
The assessment process for children consists of several steps:
1. Pre-Appointment Questionnaires: Parents and a school professional will complete an online screening questionnaire to provide insights into your child’s behaviour.
2. In-Person QB Test at the clinic: Following the questionnaires, your child will participate in a 20-minute computer-based assessment (QB Test) to objectively measure attention, impulse control, and activity levels. This assessment is not a pass-fail test but contributes valuable information to our understanding of your child.
3. Developmental History Appointment: A 60-minute online meeting with our Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, Dr Rashmi Verma, will be arranged with the parent or secondary carer to discuss the child’s history, family background, and any relevant contextual factors.
4. In-Person Assessment: Your child will then be offered an up to 60-minute in-person meeting where they can discuss their experiences at home and school. They can be seen together with you in the room, depending on their age and what you both prefer.
5. School Consultation: With your consent, our Consultant Psychiatrist will communicate with your child’s school to gather further insights.
6. Diagnosis Review: Our Consultant Psychiatrist will analyse all gathered information and reports to determine the most appropriate diagnosis.
7. Feedback Appointment: A follow-up appointment either in person or online to discuss the diagnosis and develop a personalised management plan.
8. Comprehensive Report: You will receive a detailed report outlining the assessment findings, along with resources and recommendations for further support.
Should the decision be to commence medication Dr Rashmi will arrange a 30 minute follow up consultation.
The assessment process for adults mirrors that of children but omits the school consultation element. An in-person evaluation is conducted by a specially trained GP, with the diagnosis confirmed in collaboration with our Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr Sadiq.
